[Angkor Wat, Siam Reap - North Cambodia]
Angkor Wat is to Cambodia what the pyramids is to Egypt, Taj Mahal to India etc. The Angkor temple was originally built based on the Hindu belief system and thus, to no surprise, looks like one of the many temples I have seen in India.
Thankfully, my $20US day ticket enabled me to visit the numerous other Buddhist and Hindu temples in the region. By far my favourite is Ta Prohm, a well known temple because it is slowly being taken over- tree roots severe and divide the temple rocks showing the true long term power of nature. Damn hot here, and as the temples were once lost to the jungle, its still wonderfully green and shaded.
On the 7th March its back to Bangkok, Thailand.
